The Importance of Keeping Up-To-Date, January 18, 2005

Updating through RSS Feed subscriptions
Learning through eBooks
Enrolling in a SEO Techniques 'school' or joining a forum
Updating through RSS Feed subscriptions
Perhaps the best way to update oneself on any new technology in the Internet
is through RSS Feed subscriptions. The best RSS Feed Aggregator and Reader
I have used so far is the free version of NewsGator. To be able to read RSS
Feeds, you need to have a Feed Reader. This is because when you see this
orange color buttons that says XML or RSS, when you click on them, what will
appear in the browser is xml coding. What you do is to get the URL that is
shown in your address bar. Copy it and then when you go to your feed reader,
just enter the URL at the add feed prompt. For a good RSS Feed reader, I
highly recommend the free version of NewsGator. Just go to www.newsgator.com
and follow the user-friendly instructions to register. Once you have already
registered with an RSS Feed Reader then all you need to do is gather all the
RSS Feeds that will help you update on any new technology in the Internet. Of
the many RSS Feeds available, I recommend the RSS Feed of www.webpronews.com
Just go to WebProNews and subscribe at the website. Another way to
subscribe through RSS Feeds is to go to your My Yahoo! page if you have a
Yahoo! account. At the My Yahoo! page, you can add RSS Feeds on anything
about Internet technology. The page will give you a list of RSS Feeds or help
you to browse a directory of RSS Feed listing. If you still don't have a
Yahoo! account, why not subscribe now? Just go to www.yahoo.com to register.
Once you register at Yahoo!, you can access your My Yahoo! page and start
collecting and gathering the RSS Feeds that will help you in your education
in the Internet.
Learning through eBooks
eBooks are a way of learning valuable information about the Internet. Some
are given free as a promotional gesture. Others come with a fee. However
they are marketed, eBooks are a valuable thing to have in your Internet
library. Two eBooks which I highly recommend that you should get are eBooks
on SEO techniques and other tools needed for you to get your ranking high in
the leading search engines. One eBook is created by GNC Web Creations. You
can purchase the eBook at the website for a very affordable price. The other
eBook is by Boogie Jack. At the time I got the eBook, it was a free promotion.
You can try to go to the website and find out about it now. One good thing
about eBooks is that you can read and study them offline. As regards the
hyperlinks that are embedded in the eBook, you can just visit them when you
are online. Basically, while offline, all the material and content in the
eBook is very valuable information for your Internet education. If you want
to know the basics of HTML, CSS, SEO, PageRank, Reciprocal Linking, Website
design, these are the two eBooks I highly recommend. They are excellent
material and content.
Enrolling in a SEO Techniques "school" or joining a forum
When it comes to being updated as to what the search engines want in relation
to the webpages we construct, then the best solution to learn how to make our
websites rank high in the pages of results in the search engines is to 'enrol'
in a SEO Techniques 'school' or join a forum where you can freely discuss and
exchange information and ideas as to what is new with SEO and the search engine
requirements for making it to the top ten of the first page of results for a
certain keyword or keyphrase. If you are serious into really learning no
nonsense SEO Techniques, then I highly recommend SEO Techniques. It is free
but the membership is highly restricted. Only those who are serious in really
learning the ethical way of practicing SEO techniques will be admitted. It is
a very good 'school' however and you will indeed get excellent results for your
application of what you learn in the SEO Techniques group. If you decide to
enter this 'school', then you must commit yourself to learning only the SEO
techniques taught by this school. If you still try the other SEO groups, lists
or forums, you will get confused as SEO techniques and styles vary with the
one teaching them. If however, you want your learning to be free form, then
joining as many forums as you wish will do. There are many forums online which
you can join in. Just type SEO forums as a keyphrase search in the Google
search box and you will get a list of all the SEO forums now available. In
these SEO forums, you will learn various techniques. The only danger is that
you may get confused as some SEO knowledge may be in conflict with another you
learned in a different forum. For best results, try the SEO Techniques group.
